- John Newbery Medal Home Page The Newbery Medal is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. It was named in honor of eighteenth-century English publisher John Newbery.
- Randolph Caldecott Award The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. It was named in honor of nineteenth century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott.
- Coretta Scott King Award The Coretta Scott King Award is presented annually to authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream." It was established to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King.
- Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction The Scott O'Dell Award is presented annually to the author of a meritorious book of historical fiction set in the New World.
