HiCap Class Content

What are we working on?

In the second semester, 3rd  grade students are journeying around the world in our first unit called Caravans. This unit is helping us learn geography, studying cultures, and learn how unique our planet is.

A fun song we are learning to help us memorize the 5 themes of geography.  (Be careful, it will be stuck in your head!)  Open the presentation and click on the youtube link for music.

Pilgrims

In the second semester, the 2nd grade class is competing against the original Plymouth colony to try to more successfully establish a colony in the New World.  Colony groups will use problem solving techniques to make difficult decisions and to overcome the many obstacles that the original pilgrims encountered.  Students will also keep a log book to record their journey and work on literacy standards.

Odyssey

In the second semester, 4th grade students will explore ancient myths and explore the world of Greek Mythology.  They will use their creativity to create books through bookcreator.com. They will also work with their teams to overcome the herculean obstacles they encounter with problem solving and teamwork.  Students will work on advanced literacy standards.
