Building Eastmont's Future: Proposed Bond Would Rebuild Three Elementary Schools and Address District Facility Needs
Community-Informed Bond Measure on the November 3, 2026 Ballot
Eastmont School District voters will be asked this November to consider a proposed $125 million bond focused on rebuilding or replacing Kenroy, Lee, and Cascade Elementary Schools and addressing facility needs across the district.
If approved by voters, the bond would provide funding to replace aging school buildings, reduce reliance on portable classrooms, and complete maintenance, renewal, and repair projects that help keep schools safe, functional, and reliable for students, staff, and the community.
The proposal was developed through nearly a year of work by Eastmont's Community Bond Planning Committee, a group of almost 40 community members representing parents, students, educators, business leaders, retirees, local government representatives, and community members from across the district. After reviewing facility conditions, enrollment and capacity data, long-term maintenance needs, and financial information, the committee reached a consensus recommendation that was approved by the Eastmont School Board for placement on the November 3, 2026 ballot.
The proposed bond would:
Rebuild and modernize Kenroy Elementary School
Rebuild and modernize Lee Elementary School
Rebuild and modernize Cascade Elementary School
Complete maintenance, renewal, and repair projects across the district
The proposal is expected to qualify for approximately $25 million in state construction assistance, helping reduce the amount funded locally.
Eastmont School District's long-term planning efforts are focused on providing safe, functional learning environments for students while practicing fiscal stewardship and responsible management of district resources. Because Washington state does not fund the construction of new school buildings or many major facility improvements, school districts must rely on local voter-approved bonds to fund these projects.
Community Input and Information
Community feedback was an important part of the district’s planning process. Nearly 40 community members participated in a nearly year-long study of Eastmont facilities and made a recommendation to the School Board on May 11th to put a bond on the ballot to modernize Kenroy, Lee, and Cascade Elementary Schools and priority maintenance and safety projects across the district. Boarder community input was gathered with the following results: Community Facilities Input Survey Results.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a bond?
A bond is a voter-approved funding measure used for major school construction and facility improvements, such as rebuilding schools, replacing building systems, and completing large-scale capital projects.
Why can’t the district use its regular operating budget?
Washington state law separates school operating funds from major capital construction funding. Bonds are the primary way school districts fund large construction and rebuilding projects.
Has the School Board made a final decision?
Yes. After three board meetings of discussion the board passed a resolution for a $125 million bond at the June 8th, 2026 Board Meeting.
What would the bond pay for?
The current recommendation includes rebuilding Kenroy, Lee, and Cascade elementary schools, along with maintenance, renewal, and repair projects across the district.
Would the projects happen all at once?
Most likely one school would modernized / rebuilt at a time. While one school is under construction the planning of the next school will occur. Smaller projects will be phased by priority.
