Biomedical Biology
This course introduces students to the foundational concepts of biology and medicine through an engaging, real-world, problem-based approach. Using the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Program, students take on the role of biomedical professionals to investigate a fictional case by analyzing medical history, examining autopsy findings, and exploring potential treatments. Through hands-on activities and projects, students are introduced to human physiology, basic biology, medicine, and research processes while tackling real-world challenges faced by biomedical professionals. Students use tools and equipment found in hospitals and labs as they design experiments and communicate their findings. Students also build collaboration and problem-solving skills while exploring connections to healthcare careers and the evolving role of technology in medicine.
