Work-Based Learning/Career Choices Frameworks CIP 320107. The work-based learning program offers students the opportunity to experience the world of work by performing actual on-job tasks. The student selects a work setting, related to their career pathway, their High School and Beyond Plan, AND a previous or concurrent Career & Technical Class. The student receives one period of release time to attend work. The Work Site Learning Instructor works together with the employer to ensure that the student learns and performs job tasks in accordance with their mutual expectations and makes accommodations to visit those students on the job to review learning goals and their work progress. Besides working on the job, the student must complete monthly assignments related to workplace ethics, roles, teamwork, etc. They will also develop a usable resume and cover letter by the end of the course. This course is approved for CTE Dual Credit and articulated with Wenatchee Valley College in the BCT Program Area. Students who demonstrate proficiency in the college course competencies with a ‘B’ (3.0) or better grade, may earn college credit through the CTE Dual Credit registration process. The college competencies are attached to this syllabus. During the (semester/year) all competencies will be covered in class…some may require additional independent work by the student. To earn college credit, students are required to pass a skill check/assessment with the high school instructor.
Students may earn credit for the following college course(s) at Wenatchee Valley College: BCT 116 (3 credits) Professional Work Relations if a grade of B or better is attained.
