Computer Coding Python
Computer Coding 1-Python teaches students fundamental programming concepts including variables, loops, conditionals, and functions through engaging game development projects using the visual MakeCode Arcade platform. Students develop critical problem-solving skills, computational thinking, and debugging techniques while creating their own arcade-style games and seeing immediate results from their code. This course serves as a prerequisite for Introduction to Cybersecurity, establishing the programming foundation and analytical thinking skills necessary for understanding security concepts and system protection.
This course is approved for CTE Dual Credit and articulated with Wenatchee Valley College in the CSC 101. Students who demonstrate proficiency in the college course competencies with a “B” or better, may earn college credit through the CTE Dual Credit registration process. The college competencies are attached to this syllabus. During the semester all competencies will be covered in class…some may require additional independent work by the students. To earn college credit students are required to pass a skill check/assessment with the high school instructor.
