Explore Technology Metals (8th)
Exploring Technology is a 9-week introductory course designed to give students hands-on experience with key concepts in engineering, manufacturing, and workplace readiness. Students will learn the fundamentals of shop and tool safety, including safe practices in oxy/fuel welding and soldering.
Throughout the course, they will engage in design-focused projects such as bridge engineering and fabrication, applying design intent and problem-solving skills to create functional prototypes. In addition, students will participate in professional development activities that introduce career awareness, effective communication, and responsible work habits. Students will also test to failure their bridges and analyze how and why the bridge ultimately failed.
