Yearbook

In this year-long course, students will develop yearbook journalism and design skills. Their primary job is to create The Emo Echo, the Eastmont High School Yearbook. The fundamentals of yearbook journalism include coverage of the year’s events, ethics, writing story copy, writing captions, creating sidebars, and photojournalism. Yearbook design includes creating aesthetically pleasing layouts, enhancing graphics, and effectively using color. Integral to yearbook journalism is  developing and carrying out a theme, both verbally and graphically, that suits Eastmont High School. All yearbook staff members will learn and master the online program through Jostens as well as Adobe Photoshop.  Responsibilities include planning the yearbook ladder, producing yearbook pages, and fundraising. Producing yearbook pages involves designing the pages, taking the photographs for the pages, and writing all copy on the  pages. After school time is necessary for this class. Leadership is an expected role for all students, which will manifest in assisting others, taking responsibility for themselves and others to make a product for the school, and by representing the yearbook staff in a positive way in the school community.
