Summer Food Program Information

Great News! Because schools have been closed due to COVID-19, families in Washington State will soon have food benefits available to them to help buy groceries while children have been home from school. Called Pandemic EBT, or P-EBT, these food benefits are available to families with children who are eligible for schools’ free or reduced-price meal programs. The Public Charge rule does not apply to P-EBT benefits and will not impact immigration status.

Most families who already receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, also known as SNAP or Basic Food in Washington State, and whose children already receive free or reduced-price school meals do not need to apply. The P-EBT benefits — a one-time amount up to $399 per eligible child in each household — automatically was deposited onto existing EBT cards in early July.

Families with children who become eligible for free and reduced-price meals after their school closed may get less than $399 per child. This depends on when a family applied for Basic Food benefits or when they completed a household income application with their school district.

Other families, including those whose children attend a school where meals are free for all students, will need to apply. Families with children who are newly eligible for free or reduced-price school meals must fill out a meal application before they apply for P-EBT.

P-EBT benefits do not replace any Child Nutrition Program already offered, and families are encouraged to continue participating in grab-n-go meals or emergency food programs at their local schools and community locations, even if they receive P-EBT benefits.

Families with children who are eligible and approved by their school district for free or reduced-price meals and who do not currently get Basic Food benefits, must apply online at for P-EBT before August 31 or the start of the 2020–2021 school year — whichever is later. Families who need to apply or who have other questions about P-EBT benefits can call the DSHS Customer Service Contact Center at 877–501–2233 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday (except observed holidays).

Please call the Food Service Office at 509-888-4715 or 509-888-4716 if you have a question about your student's school meals account balance or would like a refund.

To help ensure the health and safety of all of our students and staff, cash and check payments for student meal accounts will only be accepted at the Eastmont Administration Office.  You can make payments in person between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm or mail to 800 Eastmont Avenue, East Wenatchee WA  98802.  No cash or checks will be accepted at school sites.

Alternatively, parents can make secure payments online via MySchoolBucks.  In addition, this application will allow parents to view cafeteria purchases, check the balance of their student’s meal account, set up low balance alerts and schedule automatic payments.

In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at:, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. Our Food Service Department offers a mobile app, So Happy by Sodexo, to help parents and students see what's on the menu.  

It is available as a free download on the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Parents and students can look up nutritional information and allergen information for products served in the cafeteria.  New in 2019 - change the language setting in the app to view information in Spanish!  The app links to the menu planning program used in all the schools and will sync to show all foods served in the cafeteria during the week.

In order to ensure that Eastmont School District Food Service Department is aware of your child’s particular dietary restrictions, such as food allegories or diabetes, the parent or guardian will need to complete the “Diet Prescription for Meals at School” form.  This form is required to be signed by a Physician and must be submitted to the School Nurse.

The Eastmont School District provides milk and water at all meal service times.  If your child is lactose intolerant, you must submit a "Diet Prescription for Meals at School" form.  Eastmont School District will provide an unflavored soy milk to students who are lactose intolerant and have a completed diet prescription on file.  Families also have the choice to send a  beverage to school to supplement the school meals.  Eastmont School District is not allowed to provide a juice as a substitute beverage when it is not on the menu.

Eastmont School District contracts with Sodexo America, LLC for Food Service Management.  We have partnered to provide the following information in order to assist parents that have children with special dietary needs.  

If you have a child with special dietary needs, please contact your school nurse.  The school nurse will collect the required information on “Diet Prescription for Meals at School” Form.  The completed form with be shared with the Director of Food Service, who will work with your child’s school to ensure required meal modifications are accommodated
